David J. Babel is a graduate of Pace University School of Law in 1988 and is admitted to practice in New York.
Mr. Babel is the principal in David J. Babel, Esq., P.C., a law office that has served over 10,000 consumer bankruptcy clients during a 27 year period.
Mr. Babel’s primary focus has been on assisting debtors in extinguishing or managing their debts in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 Bankruptcy.
Mr. Babel has a background in education, media, and counseling with advanced degrees from The New School for Social Research, Queens College, and Lehman College.
He has structured his practice so that his entire staff is acutely sensitive to the social and emotional needs of his clients as well as their financial turmoil.
He has lectured in the consumer bankruptcy field to a variety of groups for CLE credit and for raising public consciousness with respect to the rights of debtors. This includes:

•The United States Bankruptcy Court
•Church and community groups
He has been an active member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys since 1996. He co-hosted the Loss Mitigation Workshop at the organization’s annual convention, last held in New York City in April 2014.
Mr. Babel has participated in the Southern District of New York’s Loss Mitigation program since its inception in 2008 and has successfully obtained loan modifications for his clients on a consistent basis through the auspices of the court’s program and as a result of settlements reached in actions brought against lenders and mortgage servicers for various reasons, including abuse and faulty documentation.
